TRIP DESCRIPTION

In the summer, the Dead River has dam releases for intermediate, Class III white water rafting. This 16 mile trip is ideal for families with younger children or adults who want intermediate action.

Dead River trips begin with a hearty breakfast in our base lodge (included with rafting and lodging packages) before each rafter gears up into comfortable river gear and listens to safety instruction from the day’s trip leader.

The Dead features long, continuous rapids throughout the trip. Rapids such as “Spencer Rips”, the chute at “Elephant Rock” and the famous “Poplar Hill Falls” are among the dozens you’ll encounter. The Dead in the Summer is a favorite at Crab Apple because it combines 16 miles of whitewater thrills with remote wilderness scenery.

After rafting on the Dead River, most of our guests stay over for a second night and enjoy relaxing time in our pool, take a walk into Maine’s highest waterfall – Moxie Falls, or join the Nightfall Paintball game that begins ever day after rafting.

Rafting Includes: Safety instruction, licensed guide, PFD and helmet, transportation to and from river, cookout (steak, chicken, fish or vegetarian option), photo and video presentation of your adventure

Schedule: 2019 Dead River Summer Trip is on July 27
