Reservation InformationHow do I make reservations?
Speak with our friendly reservation staff at 1-800-553-RAFT(7238). The office is coordinated by Sharyn and Carrie, so this part of the process has family members involved also. We feel that this opportunity to ask questions and get information from our staff is important for you and your group. The reservation office is open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week during our season with shortened hours in the fall and winter. You can also make a tentative reservation by sending an email with your trip details (name of river trip, number of people, dates, etc.) and we will confirm the trip by email or phone.
How far in advance do I need to make reservation?
There is no simple answer to this frequently asked question. Some of our trips sell out months in advance, some never sell out. State regulations limit the number of passengers we can carry, so early reservations ensure a spot on your desired trip date. However, if you are looking for a last minute trip, we can often accommodate you.
Can I request my guide?
Please do! Our guides look forward to taking their favorite crews down the river again and again, but please remember that your favorite Crab Apple guide may already be requested or have other commitments preventing us from making any guarantees.
How do I pay?
Payments for trips can be made by MasterCard, Visa, personal check or money order.
In order to receive any advertised group discounts or Internet Special rates, all payments must be made with one check or credit card.
What are the reservation and cancellation policies?
Reservations made more than 60 days in advance of your trip date require the following deposit within 7 days of your phone reservation:
- In Maine: $50 per person per river trip.
- In Massachusetts and Vermont: $40 per person per river trip.
- For Youth Groups on ALL rivers: $25 per person per river trip.
- For Maine Lodging: $25 per person per night.
- The balance of your trip is due 60 days in advance. Reservations made within 60 days of the trip date require payment in full.
- Cancellations: Written notification is REQUIRED. Ten (10) dollars of EACH person’s payment is non-refundable. Full refund, less ten (10) dollars per person, if we are notified sixty (60) days before trip date. NO refund if we are notified less than sixty (60) days before trip date. Monies forfeited may not be applied to any balances that may be due.
Will I need to sign a Liability Waiver?
Each participant will be required to sign a waiver of liability before each trip. Please call our office at 800-553-7238 and we will be happy to mail or fax one to you or click on this liability waiver link and print the form.
Weather issues: We run our trips rain or shine. If access to the river from Crab Apple was compromised or river conditions forced us to cancel a trip, we would make the decision to cancel on the morning of the trip at Crab Apple Whitewater and would refund the trip in full.
Helpful Hints on Making a Group Reservation:
Step 1. Call to receive any additional information you need about our trips. Our office staff is incredibly helpful. Please take advantage of this valuable resource and ask lots of questions.
Step 1 should not be to call and make a reservation for an approximate number of people. We cannot take a reservation and “hold” tickets without payment.
Step 2. Have preliminary meeting to gauge interest and show DVD. At this meeting set a deadline for deposit or full payment. Tell everyone that if they are late with payment, they may miss out because at that point you are only making a reservation for those that have paid. Those who pay late will only get to participate if Crab Apple has more tickets when you call to ad to the reservation.
Step 3. Hold second meeting to collect deposit or full payment from each participant. Collecting the full amount will eliminate a lot of trouble for you. You will only have to see everyone once and then you can send payment in full. Once we have received payment in full, we will send your tickets and your work will be done. If you collect just the deposit, you will have to meet again to collect balance payment. This essentially doubles your workload.
Step 4. Make reservation only for those who have paid you. Do not estimate for additional participants because you may get stuck paying for them if they do not come through with payment.
Step 5. Call and add to your reservation as you receive payment from others (if tickets are still available).
Step 6. If you have collected just a deposit on the first time around, make balance payment as early as possible. You will receive tickets when paid in full.
